The "Brush Seal" is a high-performance air seal that serves as an alternative to labyrinth seals. It consists of two plates that sandwich a meticulously bundled metal wire made of extremely fine strands, which is inclined at approximately 45 degrees to the rotation direction of the turbine rotor.
